The Pumpkin Karver

Found this title while flipping channels. Of course my response was "Surely that's not a wholesome movie about pumpkin carving." DirecTV gave me the answer: horror movie. Of course.

I'm doing better, health-wise. The stomach virus thing is pretty much over with. Thank goodness. Not fun stuff and my appetite is still messed up.

Went to Renfest with friends yesterday. Thankfully the stomach wasn't complaining much by that point. So it turned out to be a lot of fun! I ended up buying leather. A braided leather bracelet of which I'm wearing again today because I like it so, three small leather pouches, and snacks. Must remember to get an apple dumpling next time I go. Oh and I got to pet a really pretty horse. I took some pictures on my mom's digital camera. I'll try to post them later. Unfortunately the autumn fairy outfit wasn't ready since my mom was also sick. It'll be ready for the next trip I'm sure. Still need to dress up my wings. I've got the wire form all ready. ETA: Oh! Forgot to add that I also got a cute little wooden dagger. I stuck it in the top of my bodice and ran around like that. :>

I've also started braiding cord. Well more like knotting cord together. I picked up braiding cord from WalMart thinking I could do something with it for my fairy outfit. I've braided two bracelets so far. I'm figuring out lengths and how much cord I might need for a choker. I have a silver color metal leaf for a necklace at one point. Michaels had some neat starter kits and I might end up buying one of those for a choker.

Figured I wouldn't be posting another day yet, but eh, that's how it happens. Things pop up and I want to share.

This post is going to cover many things. So many things. Okay, not really, but there's a few topics. :>

First up, City of Heroes. Guess what? According to Position, the lead dev, re: the Mission Architect in a post today:

So the news for today? The Mission Architect is moving to Issue 14: Architect, releasing 1st Quarter 2009, and now Issue 13 will be called: Power and Responsibility, releasing Fall 2008. Current tally for Issue 13:

I'm sadly looking forward to the boards' reaction to this. Should be awesome.

Second up, I just found out today that Lynn Flewelling, one of my favorite authors, will be signing at Yaoi-con this weekend. *arrrrrrrgh* Yeah, lets drive the whole "haha you can't go to your favorite convention this year" thing a little further yeah? *headdesk* (Sadly if I had the plane tickets already, I may have been able to go, because Dad offered to pay some of it while I was in the midst of cancelling the hotel rooms. *sigh*)

*checks calendar* Oh hey, Rikti attack tomorrow till the end of September on CoH. That's fun.

Third up, power went out for a little while this afternoon. While not bad, and it did come back up after an hour thankfully, it was a flashback to those days without just recently and I was definitely not pleased. On the other hand, it's getting me a bit further in Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories. I just defeated Maleficent (after three tries) and now I'm at Vexen. Man, I need to get my card deck and HP better or Axel is going to kick my ass.

Fourth, progress is slow but starting on my Renfest outfit. I have hopes of a new one finished this year because I don't want to wear the dress again...unless I have to. I picked up a fall garland thing that might work well as a hair ornament. Or even an outfit ornament.

Fifth, I did get Steam downloaded finally. Did the overnight download method and it was ready to go the next morning. *kicks internet connection* I have Half-Life 2 and Portal installed now. Didn't much feel like it yesterday. Maybe Sunday I'll try out Portal and see how much this machine chugs on it. :>

I got to go to Renfest yesterday with [livejournal.com profile] sarcastic_elf and I had a lot of fun!

Even though I didn't get a lot of sleep before going, and we got a bit of a late start no thanks to me (my dress got cleaned recently but the cords were not all back on it yet), I still enjoyed it. The weather cooperated. It was a bit warm but after 2pm it was much more tolerable. Even more so when I acquired my new footwear. ^_^ I got a cool pair of sandels that I hope, weather tolerating, I can wear again soon. It was a little uncomfortable at first, since I had to break in the leather, but I soon got used to it. We wondered all over the fair and got lost twice looking for two booths (apparently I can't trust my directions there before food or in looking for food). I got tempted by a lot of items, particularly a Lord of the Rings blade. The jewelry and accessories need to wait until my new dress is done. We ended up leaving around 6:30pm. Best fun I've had in a while. ^_^ I cannot wait to go again in November.

I even played some City of Heroes again last night. I'm past my trial period, I think, but I am still able to play. *shrug* I'll get the game as soon as my resources allow me (probably Thanksgiving). City of Villans might be fun to try too. ^_^ (It'll probably be bought together.)

Now today's Monday and boy am I tired. And at school. And trying to get my brain to work again. It's still stuck at Renfest...lucky bastard. Now to go read for class (and get some caffiene.)
