Victoly! Finished Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. Man, that was awesome.

Finale! Comments and summary major, major spoilery within! This post is long! )

Twilight Princess comes very, very highly recommended. I really enjoyed playing it. The story was really great and well executed. Probably why I plowed through it so fast. I'm a sucker for good stories. I think I finished the game at 50 hours or so. I don't remember exactly and I would have to load the game back up to check. But this is exactly what I was waiting for. Too bad I waited so long to play it.

Seriously, I don't know how this plays on the Wii but the GameCube version was great. Now if they would release a soundtrack for the game. *pokes Nintendo* The great guide I used for this game is here.
riari: (FFVIICC Zack Okay)
Phew. Two days of playing in this post. I was too tired the last two nights to type it up. :>

Of course, what would a Zelda game be without some kinda of plot twist? Or seven to eight dungeons... Spoilery within!!! )
riari: (FFVersusXIII Sleeper)
Day 2 of playing. :> 12 Hours in I think.

More commentary/summary. Spoilery within. )

Also, this commentary is more summarizing than some of the other commentary I've done. Probably because I'm doing this after I play and not during. If that's not good for those reading it, I can switch to one more like the So: comments, and other previous commentaries. :>

Though, the more I play Twilight Princess, the more if feels like a far future sequel of Ocarina of Time.

Woo! Here we go. The Commentary begins!

The poll winner: Zelda!

I just started Twilight Princess up and man is it so nice to playing Zelda again. When I was playing Ocarina of Time, I would find Epona and just run around Hyrule with her for a while. Always such great fun. And in Twilight Princess, Epona is with you from the start! Excellent. :>

Though when I started up Zelda, I thought for certain my Cube was bad. It wouldn't read Zelda or Smash Bros Melee or Crystal Chronicles. I knew it worked before because I was playing Smash Bros on it. But it's been a while since I played my Cube. Gently blowing air from a can of air over the inside of the Cube where you put the disc in seemed to do the trick. Whew. I didn't want to have to call up Nintendo or try to find another Cube.

I, uh, wanted to post today. So I shall talk about: a game!

Actually yesterday I felt the need to escape my house, so I went to the area I refer to as the explosion of commerce, which is also the closest area to me that I know of which has a bookstore. While my credit union there held depressing news, success was found at Half-Price Books.

See, I picked up Dreamfall two weeks ago. But I wanted to play the prequel first, in case there was any story parts I would miss. So yesterday I went looking and found The Longest Journey. And it was cheaper than Dreamfall so I picked it up. (Yeah, I know I could have borrowed it.) Oh and Petshop of Horrors v. 10. So now I'm only missing two-three books from the series.

Now here's the shocking part. I not only installed the game, I actually played a bit of it. I'm a little ways in the first chapter. This game really does remind me a lot of the Kings Quest type of games. Point and click everything. :> Oh and solve small puzzles along the way. The graphics are dated (though it would be better if anti-aliasing were applied liberally) but not too bad. I stopped just before sending April, the main character, on her way from the intersection of pathways near the clock.

So, now, a poll! Because I can, and because I'm been debating this for a few days. (Also, because I can't afford Crisis Core right now. Grrrr.)

The newest GameStop e-mail I got today promotes Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings...oddly:

"We had to break out the dictionary for Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings. According to the American Heritage Dictionary, "revenant" means "One who returns after a lengthy absence," or "One who returns after death." So from what we can gather, some wings have returned from the dead to feast on the brains of the living. We could be wrong."

Uh yeah. Though even slightly more amusing since I ran the Revenant Hero arc from City of Heroes just two weeks ago. :P

Also, Pirates of the Caribbean 3 still has one of the best over the top ship fighting battles evar. (Mom picked it up today and so I've been popping in and watching it every so often. ^_^)

ETA: Edited twice for spelling. Dammit.
riari: (KH2 Roxas Who Ever I Am)
Apparently I'm a bit behind on this but only by a day or so.

At the Tokyo Game Show going on right now, Square-Enix announced three new Kingdom Hearts games, all of them on portable platforms.

Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep (PSP)
Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 Days (Nintendo DS)
Kingdom Hearts: Coded (Mobile)

KH2.co.uk has more information about the three, including a translation of the press release. KH: Birth By Sleep and the 358/2 Days games look very interesting.

A new Crisis Core trailer has been posted on YouTube.

FF7 Crisis Core Promo Trailer

I'm certainly going to have to get a PSP when that gets released. And the port of Final Fantasy Tactics, because that game is getting a new translation and a bit of a remake. It looks completely awesome.
riari: (KH Deep Dive!Riku?)
...

Okay, before I take on the final chapter of this game, I have to make some commentary first. Of course, major, major story spoilers are within the cut.

WEEEIIIISSSS! )

Some rather annoying things from Dirge of Cerberus:

Dear WRO members,

Yes, for once Vincent is right. Stay the hell away from him. Your chances of dying is quite high with my accuracy.

*sigh*

And no! Don't tell me your life story about Sector 7 then go get yourself killed!

No love,
me

That mission took me three times to escort all five WRO soldiers and I almost made it the second time but the girl got herself killed again. Actually, getting them through with some of them would have gotten me the mission finished...I just didn't want to have the girl killed after that cutscene.

To be fair, these are regular soldiers versus Deepground SOLDIERS that even Shinra didn't acknowledge let alone out to fight. But still, the escortable and highly killable soldiers do tend to die a lot around me.

And I wonder if some of Final Fantasy X's crew worked on this one. The FMV scene with the universe had a very familiar feel to it. And this is going to be a short game. I got two major bosses left to go and I'm eight or nine hours into it. Ah well. Off to play again!

So, double XP weekend was this weekend on City of Heroes. I had plans on Sunday to take advantage of that. Would have been the first time in over two weeks playing the game again. And I did play a little bit on Saturday.

But, heavy thunderstorms rolled in this afternoon and I shut my machine down. I start eyeing the many PS2 games I haven't played. And, I actually start playing one today. And it was shockenly enough, one I purchased just recently.

As such, here's a quick overview/review of Final Fantasy 7: Dirge of Cerberus.

Dirge of Cerberus reviewy like thing )

Overall, not a bad game so far, and I'm glad I got it for $20. Can't wait to finish it.
riari: (FFVIICC Not Your Toy)
New story video of Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core is up at GameVideos. In Japanese of course, but this is pretty much a given for it to be brought over. I might have to hijack a PSP so I can play this game. And see how much of the history they messed up with.
riari: (KH2 Organization VI Zexion)
Zexion's weapon finally revealed! And why not! Luxord has cards and dice as his weapons. (Still, hahahahah. ^_^)

I'm this close to ordering Final Mix+. I already have KH's Final Mix. But I'm trying to wait and see if Square-Enix will bring this one over. I'm sure I'll fail and buy it anyways, then they'll annouce it but I rather not take one for the team juuuusst yet. (Almost though.) Watch me cave in March just before release.

And for all of you broadband happy people: KHII Final Mix+ Preview trailer. YouTube doesn't like dial-up it seems. (Because the ruddy thing died 50 seconds into it!!! Grrrr. *clears cache and tries again*)

And here's the cover for the game.

Oh! And of course the KHII Final Mix+ Flash-heavy official site finally opened up recently.
riari: (KH2 Death from Above)
I'm feeling better. Sinuses still bothering me a little, but much reduced in my suffering from them compared to earlier this week. Mentally, this was the first day this week outside of Monday that I was able to actually concentrate on things. Still pretty much just read forums at work, but since I was recovering, I didn't have to shift around bookcases.

But, I will be so damn happy when my ear pops. Seems they have accumulated fluid again and while this happens every so often when I'm sick, my left ear will not pop right now. Erg.

In not sickness related news, Jump Fiesta has given us new information about Kingdom Hearts Final Mix+. Try visiting [livejournal.com profile] maiki's LJ at this post, for some info. Also this community [livejournal.com profile] 0kingdom_hearts has two posts over the event.

For fun, please visit BlackLillian's DeviantArt page to see the ongoing Thirteen Days of Christmas. She also has some funny and neat art. And another 12 Days of Christmas is going on at [livejournal.com profile] yuukihikari. The first day is sooo cuute!

In the "oh my poor credit card" news, RightStuf has completed (I hope) their 12+ Days of Christmas Sale. I say hope since I already have quite a few I'm eyeing there. Soo many good deals. (Hey, Samurai Champloo is awesome enough to buy at $80, right?)

Also, I picked up Zelda: Twilight Princess for the Cube today. ^_^
riari: (FFVIICC Zack)
Crisis Core has a trailer out now.

Of course, this is the same trailer that if you were a member of Square Enix's little online club, you could see it there too. (And you can join even if you can't read the language. I did that because I saw that there was a trailer for Crisis Core. :P)

Mostly cinematics of course, and some game play shown. I even think we see Kadaj's predecessor. But it is going to be awesome to play as Zack.

Today is a good day to listen to the Vagrant Story soundtrack. (Thank you Squeenix for reprinting the CD! Now if my copy dies, I have a way to get it again.)

(Just random.)

Will post about Yaoi-con either tonight or Saturday...hopefully. ^_^

Hmm, it might be time to play through Vagrant Story again. (For the 8th replay through or was it 9th?) Just have to make sure the PSOne is working first. *shakes fist at disc error reading PS2*
riari: (KH2 Real Men Marluxia)
So, because I felt like updating or saying something, here's a post.

Inventory is still going on. We're almost done with the English books in the front of the store. Then the Japanese manga comes next or I decide to attack the nightmare of books in the back of the store. Even I don't know where everything is back there. Though I have a good idea where anything might be. But its looking a lot like my room bookwise. You know, if my room had a fax machine, central air, and tables. Oh, and fast internet. Definitely don't have that in my room. *grrr* Hands and arms are bothering me as well, since I had that test on Monday that had essay questions and work is handling lots and lots of books and yeah.

Want to see an interesting PS3 RPG? Check out the gameplay trailer for White Knight on 1up.com. I just watched it tonight and man, even though I don't plan to get that system any time soon, it was an awesome trailer to watch. The battle system was very interesting.

I also need to update this machine if I'm going to keep running videos and playing City of Heroes. I'm still having some weird video problems with playing videos and I know having more RAM in this machine would be helpful, but the memory slots for the new memory are a bit messed up.

And I'm totally procrastinating tonight instead of working on the job analysis project. It's due on the 2nd and I'm mainly working on the categorizing right now. I'm wondering if I can send a rough draft to my professor by tomorrow and still get feedback in time. I'm just really, really tired tonight but don't quite want to go to bed yet. Might very soon though.

Because this game is awesome.

Also, now been paid. So I can now order my replacement boots and get my hotel for Yaoi-con. Woo!
