Double XP Weekend - The Write Up

This past weekened was Double XP Weekend and man it was pretty damn fun. And frustrating. But that's par for course for lag. And this might run a little long. Lots of things happened yesterday. :>
I finally, finally got my current main character Sirian (Arch/EM Blaster) out of level 39. I started the weekened with halfway through level 39. I only got to play two hours on Friday which got me another two bulbs of XP. And two hours Saturday evening got me level 40 (yeah!!).
Sunday was the most playing I've done in one day. Woke up, got breakfast, and got started playing around noon. I was determined to get Sirian to level 41 and possibly work on my new scrapper Shelke. Sadly, Crey, Malta and a contact decided to mess it up my plans a bit for me.
Upon being level fourty, I decided to ignore the now available RWZ contact and try out one of my local contacts. This was a "man I don't want the lag from the RWZ messing me up because of the war zone and everybody exploiting a mission" decision. ^_^ First up, Maxwell Christopher. *headdesk* If you've ran this guy's major story arc, you'd understand that.
To explain, Maxwell's not a horrible contact...except he, and by extension me, gets duped by Nemesis twice! Arg. And to make up for it, he sends me after Nosferatu. The most horrible of AV/EBs for Blasters (and most builds I think) that I've ran into. In the mission, he conned purple to me. Level 42 Elite Boss. Thanks. Thanks a lot. Even with keeping Nosferatu from closing to melee range on my third attempt, because oh man does his melee attacks kill me, I only managed to get almost half of his health down. And that was with a lot of Inspiration help (all but two on the tray). I was in the process of getting tier 2 Inspirations from Wentworths to try one more time when I crashed. Which of course reset the mission.
So, I decided to try another one of my contacts because at that point I had debt to work off and halfway to go to level 41. Janet Kellum, which was right next to Maxwell Christopher. She focused on Crey while Maxwell focuses on Nemesis.
Her missions were a little more interesting, if not longer to do since some of the Crey are lethal resistant. Or just harder to hit. Or highly annoying (looking at you Crey Voltage Tanks). Her main story arc focused on Countess Crey. Though there was this random mission I thought I was taking for the story that I had to go rescue three Rikti Monkeys. It was...very odd. But fun to have three Rikti Monkeys helping me. (Well, two really. One unfortunately died during ambush lag, and me accidentally aggroing another group while trying to protect the monkeys. Was sad about that.)
While trying to take down Countess Crey, Sirian got put on the city's most wanted list. I thought this was just, "hey, lay low" talk and didn't really affect me. Until I exited one mission and had two Malta operatives trying to take me down. One Sapper, one Technical operative. Oh crap! First run in with Malta outside of the accidental run-in with a Malta Gunslinger in the RWZ and Peregrine. Thankfully I have been carrying blue inspirations on me since I tend run of out endurance when I go on a spree of "arresting". Managed to take them down during the ambush lag. And ran to talk to Justine Kelly that my contact sent me to in Independence Port. Then Malta ambushed me again while talking to her. That spooked me enough to stay in open water and away from the streets.
I see now from the City of Heroes Wiki that I got the Malta ambush triggered on accepting talking to Justine Kelly and since I was standing there long enough, that's where they found me. But still a little spooked that if I stand still long enough, Malta will get me. And glancing ahead a line from the mission I stopped at, I see its a good thing that I didn't accept the next mission in the set just yet. Holy crap a huge Malta ambush is going to be awaiting me. Hope I have blues...
I ended up playing most of Sunday. Though I did take breaks. Like a hour or so break to play DDR Max in workout mode for 180 kcalories. And a shower and rest break. I stopped this morning at 4am or so mainly because I was hoping if I ran through the missions quick enough I could get Sirian off of the wanted list. (I was more than a little spooked to have Malta operatives gunning for me.) And level 41 was slow in coming. That didn't happen until about 3am-ish or so.
Crey Voltage Tanks are very, very annoying. Have I mentioned that? The electric version of Total Focus sucks to have thrown on me. Which they so, so loved to do. I, uh, didn't even train up when I hit 41 because of me being spooked. But I do have a start on leveling to 42 (one bulb! ^_^). And Shelke didn't get any of the double XP goodness. But the XP smoothing will probably be patched to the Live servers in a week or so, so that's not bad. And I added PinnBadges global channel to my chat tabs, so that was amusing (and almost accidentally killing me by laughing too hard) to watch during my missions.
So, to summarize: Sirian went from level 39.5 to 41.1 all by soloing. Whew. The Malta are gunning for me. And I am annoyed at Maxwell Christopher, Crey Voltage Tanks, and Nosferatu...again.
Lots of fun.
