Got to see the Order of the Phoenix tonight. I really liked it.

First off, I think there were at least seven previews attached to this movie. Maybe because we went to the 7:30pm showing that there were so many attached but wow that was a lot. I can't remember any of them being really any good. Mainly movies I would just see on satelite when they get there. Enchanted might be the only one a DVD rental might be nice to see.

Some things I noticed:
-Some of the settings keep staying that I didn't notice in movies 1 & 2. Aka anything Cuaron introduced in Prisoner of Azkaban seems to keep hanging around. Like the bridge, the hill they have to decend to get to Hagrid's hut, the giant pendulum clock in the castle, etc.. I like that.
-Death Eater masks changed again, this time for the better. I didn't really like the masks used in Goblet of Fire. Order of the Phoenix's is more interesting. And they're individual to the wearer.
-Kreacher was polishing the covered painting of Sirius' mother.
-Sirius, right before he killed by architecture, called Harry 'James'. I remember hearing that and going 'Oh!'. [livejournal.com profile] cleolinda pointed it out in her review and that reminded me of it. And yeah, it was a script added part to the movie and it just put in three words a tangle of feelings. Very well done.
-Jason Issacs is hot as always. ^___^ And an awesome Lucius Malfoy.
-The thestrals were neat.

Sirius' death seemed to not have the same impact as it did in the book. (Though I was spoiled for that one when reading the book.) It wasn't as abrupt as the book handled it. Very slow, but the silence afterwards while Lupin was holding back Harry was nicely done. I did really like how the Dumbledore's Army scenes were done. And the ending fight between Dumbledore, Harry and Voldemort. The scene was longer than the book from what I'm remembering but I think they made it better.

Definitely a lack of capslock of rage. I appreciated that. ^_^ I skim over that section when I do re-reads.

Evanna Lynch was completely awesome as Luna. Completely awesome. She was spot on. Imelda Staunton made Umbridge a very hateable character, which I really did not like Umbridge at all in book 5. Tonks' was pretty cool. And Shacklebolt was interesting. ^_^ Bellatrix was interesting. Thankfully less of the 'baby Potter' the better. (Most annoying part of listening to Order of the Phoenix is hearing that part... Erg.)

Oh right! Alan Rickman's Snape is still pretty awesome. Especially when Umbridge was asking all of the Defense Against the Dark Arts questions. Just awesome.

The screenwriter was different for this movie. In which could be the editor's, the new director's, and/or the new screenwriter's influence but I thought that this movie flowed better and kept a better story throughout. Though of course quite a few things from the book was sacrificed for the movie but that's what you get transfering a book to a movie. ^_^

Over all, I really liked this one. And I can't wait to see it again to catch all the little things I missed. Movie 6 should be pretty awesome.

Man, am I glad my next speech is on Tuesday. This gives me nothing to worry about for a few days to read Deathly Hallows.
