FFVII Advent Children

Finally, after much fending people off with "no, I'm gonna wait until the DVD's released" when they ask why I haven't downloaded it, I have finally seen Advent Children.
I must say, while being plot-light, Advent Children is a fun movie to watch. Explosions, fights, Reno being comic relief, and fun to watch CG FMV action. Even better is the little scene with Vincent and Cloud being emo together. This is definitely a movie for the fans, though they did try to catch people up a bit.
And both Japanese and English tracks are pretty good. I'm watching the English dub right now since I'm used to some of the characters already from Kingdom Hearts II. It's pretty well done. I like pretty much most of the voices, while Yazoo and um the other side-kick of Kadaj's voices are a bit dry. Aerith's is better than in Kingdom Hearts II. Kadaj's voice actor is pretty good at pulling off the half-psychotic, half-fanatic attitude that Kadaj has. Yuffie's is cute and Vincent's nice. His voice actor should be the same one for Dirge of Cerberus (another FFVII spin off). And Cid's is much better than what I heard in KHII. Hmm, mostly better anyways.
I'm just at the fight at Midgar right now after Bahamut was called. I like Sephiroth's voice in Kingdom Hearts, so I don't expect it to be any different when he shows up. (Though I don't know why in the hell Reno didn't use his baton other than as club. That stun attack hurts in the game.)
Though I noticed something. In the movie, Cid calls the airship Shera. I'm pretty sure that the toy airship we got at the store for Advent Children is called Sierra. So...who messed up here?
(And you know that abrupt stop in the highway... That's where the Sector 7 plate was dropped in the game.)

Date: 2006-05-02 07:59 am (UTC)They should have made a movie based off FF3 anyway. They went downhill after that. But seeing Kefka in all his world-destroying insane glory? Hell yes. And Shadow is the required emo. Edgar was kinda bishy, and Celes or Terra can be fanservice, so you've got all the angles covered really.
