There's a point where the crowd's cheering can help propel an athlete to try harder and there's the point where the crowd is a hindrance to the ongoing events.
I saw two events delayed and affected by the crowd. It seems wrong that judges bowed to the crowd, even if they said that they didn't, and that a race was delayed due to the noise. It's childish behavior.

ETA: And now one of the rhythmic gymnast, Irina Tchachina from Russia, was using the Pirates of the Caribbean soundtrack for her performance music. ^_^ (And I can't seem to spell Caribbean right either. *pokes word*)
