The Memory Beyond

riariSo, I finished Kingdom Hearts 2 today.
After a long break and long time playing this game, I finished it.
What a final battle. Xemnas had three to four times to defeat me, and failed all of them. But the very last battle with him was very cinematically awesome. There were these moves that just had me watching then scrambling to hit the right buttons. And Sora gets captured mid-fight and you play Riku for the only part of the game to quickly free Sora. Riku gets hit pretty hard with some of Xemnas' attacks, especially the last one right before I finished Xemnas off. I want a capture of that battle. Really. I enjoy watching the captures of the Organization battles that 1up.com did.
Very nice ending. I'm totally happy with this ending. And this time it is more of an ending compared to the first game. Very sappy with Roxas and Namine.
And I must say, Riku...is hot. Seriously. (And you can shut up now. :P) I was totally yelling at him to keep the black coat on during that cutscene in the World That Never Was.
One thing that amused me about the ending cutscenes was that Riku mentioned that "this world was for me" while they were on that inbetween world. My response when Sora looked back at Riku to see him collapsed on the ground: "So, you like the world so much that you're hugging the ground?" ^_^
The journal. The friggin journal that took me so, so, so long to finish. And I think it was helpful. Because of it, I was level 99 and while Xemnas liked to waste my HP bar a lot, it was most certainly an easy or easier battle due to my level. But that last tournament was definitely full of hate. Round 49 had Cloud, Tifa, Yuffie, and Leon all together. Usually you just took on just two at a time. (Btw, the FAQ I used for this tournament is here. It was very useful.) Every time I got where I had two of them hitting me was scrambling to get out of there and yelling "Sora biscuits! Sora biscuits!" as motivation for me to get the hell out of their way. (Blame the FAQ I used. It described very well what would happen if I got caught near any of the fighters.) I ran this tournament from round 11, then round 41 when I died after finally making it to the fourties, then from round 11 again when I beat it the first time but didn't have the journal requirement. One hint though: take the advice of the FAQ and use the Ultima Keyblade. I used the Oblivion Keyblade the first many tries and died repeatedly. I needed the MP too much in the fourties so I switched to using the Ultima Keyblade and found it much, much easier to survive.
(And yes, I did use the Oblivion Keyblade to fight Xemnas. It's my favorite!)
So according the ending stats, I had AntiForm happen 8 times and Final Form was the most used Drive Form 91 times. Most used Summon was Peter Pan because during tournaments you get more orbs and beat on the enemies. He did more damage and was the most useful to me. Before I took on the ending, my time was at 87 and a half hours thanks to the journal. And Mickey didn't save me once. (Which can happen at certain battles if you have too much trouble with them.)
As for the hard battled for Secret Ending. It was....weird. Oh, definitely another try for a sequel, another whole new game with the Keyblade history? Something about Keyblade wars and something started by sleep. Very odd. See Another Side, Another Story special I felt I was well rewarded for finding all of the puppies and defeating Sephiroth. This secret ending...is just so odd! Kinda meh about getting that. Though those Keyblades were very familiar... Don't know if this idea will ever be done as a game but dunno. (The secret ending is downloadable online of course.)
Btw, on the soundtrack for KH2, track 37 "Sunset Horizons" is the Secret Ending music.
So that's that. Kingdom Hearts II was an awesome game. And will definitely get some replay value down the road. Probably after I finish Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories. (Sadly, I'm still working on that one.)
For people interested in videos of the game cutscenes and opening and endings, I found the folowing sites very useful:
1up.com - Has the video captures of the Organization boss battles, and Sephiroth's fight, and a few others.
KH-Vids.net - Where I got all of the cutscenes of any of the Kingdom Hearts games, most especially KH2. The videos can be large in size but that's for the length really. They're a small window and I would like to find higher quality ones, but that's a personal preference.
KH Ultimania - Here you can lots of information, pictures, and videos! I got my high res video of the Japanese opening here, some trailers, and Chain of Memories videos and even some Final Mix ones. Also, the nice Another Side, Another Story [Deep Dive] video that I have is here.
IGN.com - Here's the place, along with 1up.com, that I use for trailers. They also have some gameplay videos as well.
Now, I can see all those ending icons and fics and what not that I couldn't before.
