What a year!

It's finally ending! 2005 is finished after today. I sincerely hope that 2006 is better.
And would you believe it? There's another tropical storm in the Atlantic. Tropical Storm Zeta is far from affecting anybody other than shipping traffic, but it's amazing that a storm formed this late in the year. 27 named storms in one year is rather disturbing and amazing all in one. And if one forms before the season starts up in 2006, they would be starting with the 2006 names I believe.
This year has been...interesting, if you want to call it that. Personally, I'm proud of getting A's in my courses for the first time in a long time. I got a total of five A's this year out of six courses.
Other things:
Games: I joined my first MMORPG this year with City of Heroes, which I still play and I'll be posting character images in the next post. I just added City of Villains to that as well. I even managed to get over my shyness online a bit and team up with two groups.
Books: While I'm catching up to my horrible graphic novel backlog, I've not really read many novels/regular books this year. Just The Art of War, The Prince, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, Good Omens (which if you haven't heard, is getting another release next year with different covers), and I've listened to Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell. (I also re-listened to all five of the Harry Potter books before May.) I've also read the first CLAMP Paranormal Detective novel and the first Slayers novel. I have made a really good dent on my backlog of graphic novels (or manga, whatever you want to call it).
I'm sure I have more to talk about, but I can't remember it at the moment. *shakes fists at lack of memory* But if I think of it, I'll add more.
ETA: Harry Potter! This year was awesome in the fact that we had both a new book and a new movie! JK Rowling has mentioned that this upcoming year is the year where she will start working on the seventh book and filming for The Order of the Phoenix will be starting as well. I loved the Goblet of Fire movie (Jason Isaacs and Alan Rickman!) and the soundtrack is awesome. It is a nice departure from the John Williams music for the previous three movies, but at the same time it does touch a bit on the themes that he has established. I rather hope they keep the new composer on for the rest of the movies. And reading the Half-Blood Prince was just as good. It was a nice read and I enjoyed reading it. And seeing the darker turn of the series and watching how people reacted to every chapter was fun. (R.A.B.!) The Leaky Cauldron is going over 2005 with all the news they have covered for the twists and turns of the year.
One thing that was brough to my attention this year, funnily enough by the
metaquotes community, that no matter how annoying a day might be I'm alive, I have a roof over my head, and I'm in relatively good health. That's a good place to be.
And with what I say every year, practically: if you're going to drink, find someone to drive or get a cab. Even if you think you can hold your liquor. And if you're driving sober tonight, drive carefully. There's lots of idiots out there. Be safe, peoples!
Also, there's a fire ban out there for the Texas area (including my area). Don't encourage fires!
ETA: Oh goody, fog.
