Today was a lovely stress of a day.
I put off/had problems with a visual basic program that was due today. The main problem was that the program I needed was consistently checked out from the department. I had the program, but an older version on my home PC. Then I tried installing the trial version that came with the book. But this book version came on a DVD! Who has a DVD drive? Not me. Good thing my mom does. And it is a huge transfer over the network. So that ending up being a bust. (The DVD realization came about late last night. It took a of hour or more to get this transfered. Blah.)
So, had my first class, then went to have lunch. It started raining while I was having lunch and I waited for it to die down a bit so I can run to my car...far, far away. Not going to happen. So I give up on waiting and go to my car to get the book I needed and my umbrella. I get to the computer lab, not soaking wet but definitely on the damp side, and try to get started. I spend almost an hour trying to figure out what I'm missing from the program to get it going. I got lucky and saw one of my classmates. He gave me a text file of the programming to compare to. (Before you complain about cheating, my teacher pretty much gave us the entire code, I just didn't realize she was until they were half-way through it.)
Two bloody lines of code. That's all I was missing. I thought I had huge chunks missing. It looked like I did. But it was just two lines of code. Which I had scribbled down in my notebook during class, but didn't know where it went. Argh!
Well, at least the program was turned in, and I was quite relieved to see that it was only two lines of code...afterwords.
The plus side of this evening? I got a nice cup of tea to relax with and an extra teabag of the tea to enjoy later.
It rained most of the day today too. Just like last tuesday. Hmm... Well, at least I got two more chapters in on The Summer Country. Just when I start disliking a character, it throws you on their point of view. You get to see the other side of the story. Kinda neat on that part.
*pokes mail* Cough up my W2!!
