Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince pushed back until July 17, 2009 from [livejournal.com profile] cleolinda. Leaky Cauldron article about it.

Well, that suxxors. Next summer. That's when we can watch the next movie. Bah.

The movie better fall under the category of "awesome" for this move.

*sigh* Today has been meh all around. Well except for getting a bidder on one of my auctions, and getting a feedback. The eBay side of today has been pretty good.

I'm going to go take out my annoyance by beating up Malta in CoH.
riari: (HP Wizardry Luna)
Hahah, oh my popcorn bag I was trying to open just rippped open, sending popcorn flying upwards. Pretty funny really.

So! The Half-Blood Prince trailer is released! Wooo!

Um, can someone save this for me?
riari: (HP Wizardry Luna)
I read this Wednesday briefly but everything else on Wednesday sorta overshadowed it.

So Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows movie will be split into two movies. The director is David Yates, which has done both movies five and six. Steve Kloves will be the screen writer for both parts.

"The movies are to be filmed at the same time, and will be released several months apart, with Part One due November 2010, and Part Two, May 2011."

I would have really prefered that they done one movie but a longer movie for the finale. It would have had to been a leaner movie plot to do so, but I think it might have been possible. Ah well.

I was talking about this article recently I'm sure. It's an old one and has made the circuit.

But I was reading my old entries, and boy is that odd for me a bit, and I found the entry with the article link.

So, here's the article: Lupin happy in Harry's loop. [livejournal.com profile] ffenest typed it up for everybody back in 2004 when Prisoner of Azkaban was just released. The Order of the Phoenix was just released then.

So, I read this fic tonight. It's brilliant.

This is so NOT WORKSAFE (Crude language and certain...themes...):

Harry Potter Book Disguises

But it's hilarious! The first one had me laughing so hard I was in tears. Just scroll past the shark one. Really.

So, I have finished it. The last book in the series. Man what a ride.

Comments for Chapters 31 through the end. Needless to say: SPOILERS FOR IT ALL )

Comments about the series and the last book as a whole. Of course, SPOILERS. )

Probably will be more comments about this book. I need to think about it more. Digest it a bit since I plowed through it so fast. Feel free to comment and discuss. Now to go take a shower then see how others feel about the ending given to us.

Another quick post before I hit the thick of it. Comments for chapters 23 through 30.

SPOILERS once again up to Chapter 30 )

Very close to the end now!!! Hopefully this headache won't distract me too much from reading.
riari: (HP Wizardry Luna)
Another section of comments. From chapters 15 though 22.

SPOILERS up to Chapter 23 )

You know, reading the book in front of the computer has given me plent of time to use on defragging my hard drives.

ETA: Had the wrong chapter number up there. It's through to chapter 22 since I was reading 23 when I posted that. 23+ will be on the next post.
riari: (HP Durmstrang)
Okies, I've finally started on the book. Yeah, yeah, I'm slow. Well, slower than others who got the book at midnight as well. At least it's better than when book five came out. I didn't read that one until August. (I believe that was the summer solstice released book.)

So, comments of course. Part 1. Up to chapter 13.

SPOILERS abound! )

Haha, just skimming oh so briefly over my flist reveals at least ten posts about Deathly Hallows. So no flist reading whatsoever till I finish.

So I now have the latest and final book in the Harry Potter series sitting on my bed still in its Barnes & Noble bag.

The event tonight was neat. [livejournal.com profile] sarcastic_elf and I didn't get there until about 10:30pm. After locating [livejournal.com profile] nikkicub, we stayed to watch the owl presentation. That was very neat since we got to see a horned owl, a bard owl and I think a screech owl? The last one was so very cute and tiny. She was totally used to humans so the handler didn't even have to tether her. She even flew the short distance back to her cage after the handler was done explaining about her.

We then joined the great line for Starbucks. (Needed caffiene!) We relocated [livejournal.com profile] nikkicub and hung around until midnight. We started lining up not long after that. The pre-orders were split up into letters with 50 tickets each letter. We were letter D, and thanks to the bright colors used, it didn't take too long to find our group. The people we were in line with were so nice. We all gathered together and people were helping others find their group. It was just great to see fans help each other so that everybody can get their book in a timely matter. We were lined up, got to the cash register, and was out of the store by 12:30am. The staff there were great and hopefully they don't have to stay there too late tonight cleaning up after all of the fans.

So, as I mentioned in a post below, I'll talk about Deathly Hallows behind LJ cuts. Expect several posts as I plow through the book. I have plans to try to sneak in a chapter or so before I have to sleep tonight. Then I have work so I'll try to read a bit there too. Hopefully I'll be done by Sunday night. (Mainly because I need to watch Bleach v. 5 before it goes out to new release renting on Monday.)

I'm also going to be reading Animeondvd.com to catch news from Otakon since that is also going on this weekend. If anything else big is announced like Ouran I might post about it here.

Happy reading everyone!!
riari: (HP D & D)
Okay. Apparently, there's a real scan of Deathly Hallows already out on the internets. Figures. Since I don't want to get spoiled, I think I'm just going to stick to fics or something else that is not so Harry Potter entrenched on the internets. (There is the latest and final chapter of the Tea series to read now. Wooo!!) Though there are the random idiots who want to ruin it for all, so I'll still have to be careful. I want to go into this book mostly unspoiled. (Though the HP7 "spoiler" icons have been hilarious.)

Though this does make me worry a bit about getting the book on Friday evening at the Barnes & Noble event. Who knows how many of the people there have read the scan...

Thankfully my flist is nice about LJ cutting reactions and spoilery info.

Though I'll state this now for those who are slightly worried. I may have trouble pulling some reactions behind LJ cuts (look at the Kingdom Hearts 2 posts for example), but I will definitely put all spoilery posting behind LJ cuts.

And darn it, I want to go see Order of the Phoenix again...

But I must type up resume for class today. I've gotten the powerpoint slides ready, and the summary of the chapter ready. Then watch Bleach v. 5 sometime this week.

ETA: Oh man! I have a printed rough draft of my resume in front of me. It's so beautiful. *sniff* My plan is, that since this is due today in class, that I'll use the suggestions that I get there. And I'll run this by my friends to look over for suggestions. And after all that, it'll be an up-to-date resume. Which'll be useful in the near future.

Got to see the Order of the Phoenix tonight. I really liked it.

Reviewy like thing of OotP )

Man, am I glad my next speech is on Tuesday. This gives me nothing to worry about for a few days to read Deathly Hallows.
riari: (HP Wizardry Luna)
As we get closer to book 7, [livejournal.com profile] metaquotes has many posts about it. And some of them are pretty good, along with the icons used in the comment threads. I'm sure the community will be quite sick of all of the posts by the end of it.

The Top Ten Words That Should End Harry Potter 7

The non-spoilerific ending of Book 7 - If you're worried, this is truly non-spoilerly. Punctuation!

Yay!!! Movie 5 tomorrow!!!!
riari: (KH2 Moments)
Erg. Just spent the last two days sick. Some kind of cold that got me fast and seems to be going just as fast. I've gotten so much sleep in the last two days...

Still feel tired and out of it, but I think I can make it to work tomorrow. I ended up taking a day off during our usual shipment day. It was a small one though so hopefully it wasn't too bad.

First time I've been on the computer since I got sick. Now I'm all caught up with my flist and luckily [livejournal.com profile] metaquotes has been slow lately.

Without clicking on spoilerly posts, I'm hearing Order of the Phoenix is a good movie. We'll see it on Friday. ^_^ Just remember when you see it, this director is also doing Half-Blood Prince. From what I'm hearing, maybe the seventh movie will be done by him too. (Or Cueron.) A new scriptwriter for the series outside of Kloves might help it. Can't wait to see the movie!

(Btw, still out of it, so if this post is a bit weird, you can understand why.)

Less than a week until the fifth Harry Potter movie is out!!! And almost two weeks until book seven is released (fondly known as the end of the internet... ^^).

Yes this is just a post to take my mind off of what's going on. :P
riari: (HP Durmstrang)
Woo! The Order of the Phoenix movie trailer debuts on Yahoo.com tomorrow!

Now to go back and write this paper to make it sound like I know what I'm talking about. (Which I am completely lost on this one... Oh man, I need sleep.)

ETA: And [livejournal.com profile] cleolinda has just released a new movie in 15mins parody for Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. So go read it!

From the parody:

DUMBLEDORE: And now a special welcome to our new Defense of the Dark Arts professor, [*ominous thunderclap*], Alastor Moody!

[Moody clomps in, glares at everyone with his mechanical eye, and chugs from a flask like a trenchcoated pirate.]

HARRY: Finally, a Dark Arts teacher who's hardcore.

Moody’s First Class

MOODY: Now, who knows the name of the curse that drove Longbottom’s parents insane?

NEVILLE: *wibble*

The Champion Is Selected

DUMBLEDORE: We are gathered here now to choose one person (who is not Harry Potter) to represent each school, but only one (who is not Harry Potter) will achieve eternal fame and glory in the Triwizard Tournament, in which Harry Potter is not old enough to compete!

[Only characters we’ve already seen in closeup are chosen: Krum, the famous one! Cedric, the pretty one! Fleur, the uppity one!]

SNAPE: Professor…? About that…

Okay, now going back to writing.
riari: (HP Durmstrang)

This is making me happy. Because it's advertising book seven.

I'm excited for the movie. But it's book seven that's going to be the big one. Because it's the new canon and the end of it all. The fan react is going to be awesome to watch. Including the lead up to release. I'm debating on how early before release I should stop reading the internet. Or just random places where I don't know if they will ljcut for spoilers.

You know, as long as it isn't 'Rocks fall and everybody dies'. Then I will laugh.
riari: (HP Durmstrang)
For yet another post today, here's the cover art for the American version, the British Children version, and British Adult version of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.

Cover art for all releases here!

You know, if you haven't seen it everywhere else.
riari: (HP Durmstrang)
It's been properly announced! Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows will be released on July 21, 2007. A new book and a new movie all in the same month. Awesome!

Also, I had no less than three e-mails about the release date. Amazon.com, Barnes & Noble and Borders all e-mailed me about it.

Now back to my short paper on open source software.
